Professional Design: IU Office of the President

I was lucky enough to work in the Office of the President at Indiana University for nearly a year. It was a great year. The scope of work was limited, but there is something wonderful about being so close to the pulse of the university. You would think being part of such a busy office (if not the busiest office on campus) would be stressful, but it never really felt that way. The office staff were a joy to work with and genuinely liked one another. I went home happy nearly every night. Again, lucky.

There is no time to sweat the small stuff in such a fast paced environment. Things come at you quickly and you have to be fast, react fast, and know when to let go. And it helps to be able to produce as many printed products as possible in-house. I became very adept at designing for in-house printing. I also produced my first university event website while in the office. It was only four pages (and is no longer live) but it was a temporary masterpiece. I say this with sarcasm as it was a huge learning curve.
